The PE Miles Group offers board training in the areas of board development and board leadership training.

Board Development

The PE Miles Group will provide nonprofit Community Based Organizations (CBO) board and staff members with new insight and specific tools and resources for building an effective board. Specifically, it will explore the roles and responsibilities of board members, focus on the difference between governance and management, examine the importance of board selection and composition and provide models for orientation and training of board members. Finally, we
will address strategies for responding to board changes and assessing the effectiveness of both the board and the CBO.

Participants will be able to:
Understand the fiduciary responsibilities of a board member.
The board’s role and involvement in mission, vision and values.
The board’s role in financial management.
The board’s role in strategic planning.
Understand the relationship of the board with bodies that report to the board.

Board Training

The PE Miles Group will tailor and implement a plan for on boarding new and returning member board training. This type of training allows new members to quickly gain understanding of their roles and contributions to the organization. This understanding often increases their participation and fulfillment regarding their roles as board members.

Participants will be able to:
Understand the role of nonprofit boards.
Identify the major responsibilities and obligations of individual board members.
Identify strategies for strengthening the board’s composition and structure.
Explain the working balance between board and staff members.
The relationship of the board and bodies subordinate to a board.
